TB is clearly out of his league. He comes across as ill-informed, ill-prepared, hugely misguided, and incapable of having an intelligent and respectful conversation. He makes me ashamed of a certain sector of the UK’s vegans (including the current manifestation of the UK Vegan Society). TB should not be any kind of public ambassador for veganism. He clearly likes the sound of his own voice and allows words to come out of his mouth before he’s put any real thought to what he’s saying, which is hugely dangerous to our cause (much like FO’s comments). I don’t doubt that he’s passionate about veganism but he’s not fit to have a high-profile position in its promotion.

  • From Pam on 22 June 2014

My friend is vegan and so am I. And when he suggested to listen to your radio which I am it’s like this is sweet a vegan radio. I was wondering if ppl can support the Multiple Sclerosis company by donating any money you wish to give the society the reason is I am vegan and I have MS. And I want the MS society around the world to find a cure for us. Please and thank you. The medication I am getting is not vegan. And why can’t doctors gives us vegan meds instead of non vegan meds and making us more sicker. In Canada where I live it sucks they ban vegan books. Vegan radio so I have to listen to your radio online. And they even banned certain vegans food here too which really sucks for me. And travelling to certain countries too is very hard to find vegan restaurants too.

I agree 100 percent with everything that Karen Davis wrote about UPC’s commitment to veganism [re
May 4 show]. I have been a vegan and animal rights activist for over 25 years and am proud that one of my many accomplishments is having been invited to be on the board for UPC, which I accepted, with honor. I would NOT associate my name and my long-time reputation as a vegan activist with any person or organization that does NOT first and foremost promote veganism, everywhere, all the time, no matter what, which UPC always has and does and will continue to do. To take time on a vegan radio show to accuse UPC of being “welfarist” because an action or two over decades does not fit perfectly into a personal list of criteria of what it takes to be a “vegan abolitionist” is a good example of cutting off your nose to spite your face. UPC is a powerful voice for veganism. Period. And so am I.

  • From Karen Davis on 04 May 2014

Thank you for inviting Sherry Colb and Sandra Higgins on your show on May 4, 2014, which happened to be International Respect for Chickens Day, an annual project of United Poultry Concerns since 2005. I am glad that Sandra noted in her interview that her report on the cruelty of “enriched” cages for laying hens is on the United Poultry Concerns website. Because many listeners may not have the background, let it be noted that United Poultry Concerns joined with the Humane Farming Association in 2012-2013 as the LEADING national organizations in the U.S. to publicly oppose proposed federal legislation that would have effectively enshrined “enriched” cages for egg-laying hens in the United States. We were very vocal in our opposition and the reasons why. For information, please see our Screaming Hen webpage http://www.upc-online.org/scream which includes Sandra Higgins’ report.

Second, it is incorrect and unjust to paint United Poultry Concerns as a sellout, “welfare” organization, as Gary Francione spent part of his interview time doing on the show, simply because United Poultry Concerns, a 100% pro-vegan, animal rights organization, has tried to help birds in institutionalized abuse conditions from which they will never escape, except through death. UPC has NEVER promoted consumption of animal products under ANY conditions. It is important for animal advocates to distinguish between organizations that are telling consumers it is ethically acceptable for them to eat “humanely-raised animal products” and organizations, such as United Poultry Concerns, that promote a Give a Cluck-Go Vegan diet exclusively, and nothing less, while meanwhile trying to help suffering birds in the here and now to whom we believe we have an obligation.

Karen Davis, PhD, president of United Poultry Concerns, was a featured speaker, in 2013. on Will Tuttle’s Veganpalooza. UPC has led the way in urging animal activists “Beyond the Rhetoric of Apology to Affirmative Action for Animals and Animal Rights.” This and more can be read on our Effective Activism webpage at http://www.upc-online.org/activism.

  • From Declan Bowens on 04 May 2014

I have an animal sanctuary in Ireland myself called Back into daylight animal sanctuary.I agree with Sandra these chickens hens suffer terribly with the diseases caused by being in cages in terrible conditions,it is hell on earth for them.WE have hens out of these cages on our sanctuary. They have every disease you could think of for a hen to have in western Europe. You would want to be a vet and a veterinary surgeon and a miracle worker to be able to look after them in any good meaningful way. Each one of them is so beautiful and so wanting to live another day. They enjoy being free so much just to be able to lie in the sun and walk about. Please go Vegan for the animals and think of their pain day after day.People need to wake up to eating brutally murdered animals and eating death and disease all these animals suffer horribly in the human food chain.People wake up to this fact and admit their suffering and stop lying to yourself.GO VEGAN.

Some lights came on listening to the broadcast.it seems like the pharma companies and the medical and health officials new about the bad health from animal products , kept quiet and have been cashing in all these years.but there is a new threat on thehorizon with GMO vegan foods.if they are disease causing ,they will still be making billions of dollars.thanks to voices like yours, a separation line is naturally forming between the two movements “.will the real vegan advocates please stand up”.veganism is about the highest expression of love which is compassion, and so is anti rapism and anti slaveism and anti sexism and anti child Laborism and any antiabuseism.

Mr. Friedman missed a most important evolutionary event in the development of the human brain – the harnessing of the power of fire. Why are animal killers invited to speak? Who appoints the censors of the “animal rights movement”? Who decided who owns “the movement”?

Thank you Mr. X for the work you do. Without you, most of us would not know how it feels to be an earthling, who is objectified for the sake of its fellow earthling-human-protagonist of patriarchy. Protagonists of patriarchy are unfair, unjust, cruel, violent and pervert because they divide the earthlings in superior and inferior ones, a crime not only against humanity but against all earthlings. All earthlings are born to live and therefore are all equal.
Without Mr. X, the German concentration camps during WWII would have been undisclosed.
Mr. X, your courage is my inspiration.

  • From gabriel lambrianidis on January 12 Program

thanks for opening our eyes to read between the lines.discrimination in moral issues is valueable at times like these.it has been said that the road to hell is full of good intentions.so the road to peace is simple and clear:veganism and advocating veganism to abolish the use of non human beings.when the use of animals is abolished then we can talk about wellfare.until that day wellfarist so-caaled actions are meaningless.it is the reverse of zenos paradox going fast towards a minus whole.

  • From gabriel on Plant Based

i do not know why the word pythagorean was changed to vegetarian and vegan but it was a good change because pythagorian sounded like belonging to a cult.vegan as a word by itself or in essence is ultimate freedom.plant based leaves room for including animal products that suits some people to use.and others think they will be stigmatized by the word vegan.if people only realized the morality and ethics of the issue all this word play would be seen as unessential.

  • From Will Beazley on 29 December 2013

the same story with respect to the devaluation of nonhuman animals is told with the posessed man who jesus supposedly casted the evil out to innocent pigs near by.a being with his power and respect for all creatures could not have done this, but instead used rocks or anything innanimate to deposit these in.another perversion of the truth by the church to devalue non human beings.

The word humane/human/humanity/is directed at human being’s we are superior in what we can do and achieve on earth animals are equally inelegant but bcos of their earthly body’s they are at a disadvantage so human being’s take advantage of anything not human and weeker in body I call this inhumane

  • From gabriel lambrianidis on 1 December 2013

why is the word humane used to mean kindness?driving a car is humane [only humans do it] voting is humane, getting married in church is humane, etc.kindness and love and sympathy is infused by the creator in all species.i think humane is a speceist word intended to justify the use and abuse of other species by humans.it is not a coincidence that the same word is used in the greek language.

  • From Alfredo Kuba on 24 November 2013

Bob mention this “prayer” on your show for this bloody holidays.

    GIVING GRACE, THANK YOU LORD

    By: Alfredo Kuba (10/20/11)

Dear Lord, we thank you for the meal we are about to receive.

We thank you Lord for the poor creature who lays lifeless and dead upon our table, who was murdered in cold blood and we are about to devour.

We thank you Lord for all the misery this poor animal and MILLIONS more just like him endure every day throughout their horrible lives.

We thank you Lord for the horrifying death he endured at the slaughterhouse at the hands of thoughtless and heartless men such as ourselves.

Oh dear Lord, We thank you for making us just as thoughtless and heartless as we are about to devour him, limb by limb, and body part by body part.

Dear Lord we thank you for all the diseases and death we bring upon ourselves by devouring your creatures.

We thank you Lord for all the environmental degradation, deforestation and destruction we cause upon all of your creation and which is caused by devouring your creatures.

We thank you Lord for all the habitats we destroy and the mass murders of all your wildlife also caused by devouring your creatures.

We also thank you Lord for all the millions of your innocent creatures who are tortured and murdered in research laboratories each day in bogus and futile experiments that look for cures for diseases we create by devouring your creatures. And we thank Lord for all the havoc and mayhem we bring upon all of the Earth, your creatures and all of your creation.

    Amen.

Any religious holiday or celebration requiring the systematic mass murder of billions of innocent sentient beings, sacrificed to satisfy human gluttony constitutes a ritualistic, cold blooded cult.

  • From Richard Loughlin on 1 September 2013

Hello greatest broadcaster that ever lived,
I listened with interest to your interview with Thomas Micklewright and now know the reason the vegan movement in London is so namby pamby. To have a founder promoting meat free mondays…what?…it’s ok to eat meat for 6 days? I was a member of the Greenwich borough vegan society who recently changed their name to the ‘greenwich vegan and vegetarian society’ so I politely mentioned on their facebook page that many vegans see vegetarianism as bad as meat eating. Liquid meat. I was then tweeted by Thomas from the @LondonVeganSoc that we need unity. This is where you may recognise this story. You tweeted him ‘@LondonVeganSoc @darthbuzz Unity will only come with veganism. We cannot unify behind ANY tolerance for rape, imprisonment, & murder’ and then ‘@LondonVeganSoc @darthbuzz Dairy & Egg Consuming “Veggies” May As Well Eat Steak & Chicken Legs – why are they different from “meat” eaters?’. I thank you very much for these and there should be no tolerance. I have un-follewed them and the other vagueatarians. Richard

  • From Dylan on 13 October 2013

Professor Gary Francione is absolutely correct. These animal welfare organization are going in the wrong direction and the abolitionist movement is the clear choice for an ethical way of life. I recently put “the abolitionist vegan society” pamphlets into the Rancho Cucamonga Viva La Vegan location and I hope this can turn some heads.
