The employer of the author of this hen hatchet piece just received a $500,000 “donation” from the Open Philanthropy Project to mislead the public about “cage-free” eggs. To say that things are “looking up” for the birds in “cage-free operations is either obscene, or true in the context that each one of these millions of birds is on his or her back, looking up, and dying. It is also obscene and true that, as he says, “cage-free” eggs are “GOOD FOR BUSINESS”, as the egg industry celebrates historic sales.
It is also obscene and true that this author is the most recent inductee into the “Animal Rights Hall of Fame”, an award from FARM and the so-called Animal Rights CON-ference” where the bar is set so low that this guy can win it and set an example for the “animal rights movement” that good activism results in GOOD BUSINESS for the world’s worst exploiters, torturers, and killers.
In addition to the Humane Society of the United States’ $500,000 bribe, Mercy For Animals and the Humane League each pocketed “donations” of $1,000,000 to deceive the public – like this shameless opportunist -about how great “cage-free” eggs are. Perhaps if their children, or family dogs and cats, were given such happy “looking up” lives as these hens, they would be singing a different tune (unless bribed with millions, of course).
These three groups will make 13 presentations at the upcoming “Animal Rights CON-ference” in LA, itself a true obscenity, a showcase of deception and betrayal.
How can real “animal advocates” participate in such a disgrace, in something so disrespectful to animals? I would be embarrassed to be there, to give it credibility, and to be associated with such corruption.
There is an alternative, where the animals come first, where the only GOOD BUSINESS that exploits and uses animals is OUT OF BUSINESS: http://worldvegansummit.com/attendee-registration/
