1) Bromelain enhances quercetin. Either in a form of supplements, some quercetn supplements are include bromelain, or, or then pineapple is a good natural source of bromelain.

2) Although most vit D3 supplements available so far are non-vegan, there are many vegan vitamin D3 supplements.

Spreading anti-science, anti-mask nonsense is dangerous, harmful, and definitely NOT VEGAN as it actually leads to SUFFERING AND DEATH!

At around 57 minutes in, Linden and Cousins spread anti-mask misinfo in this episode – they are wrong about the virus being too small for masks! The virus particles are not by themselves, rather, when they leave a person’s mouth via breathing or talking or cough or sneezing, they are aerosolized and attached to water particles (we breath out water vapor not naked virus particles) as well as attached to dust particles, etc. Moreover, even if it was just virus particles by themselves (which again, they aren’t), even many of those would get trapped in masks as they bounce through crisscross holes in layers of fabric. Comparing it to mosquitoes flying through a fence like Cousins stated and to which Bob Linden agreed was good analogy, is just not even close to reality. To play off that analogy, it’s like mosquitos attached to balloons (water vapor, dust etc) trying to fly through a multiple layers of fence placed on top of each other.

Masks work and save lives. I don’t know what Facebook meme you got your science from, but you have a responsibility to your audience and the globe, to not spread misinformation like this.

Two Masks Are Better Than One

Another misinfo tidbit Cousins mentions is a CDC studies he refers that he says proves masks don’t work. He fails us miserably here as a health advocate. A plea to Bob and his team: At the very very least, if you truly do not know who to believe, (viral Facebook posts vs the preponderance of Scientists), you should err on the side of caution so that you don’t influence someone to become lax about their mask use. If you are wrong, do you really want to be responsible for someone catching Covid-19 and getting hospitalized or infecting their loved ones?

It is truly irresponsible to spread antivax conspiracy theories and misinformation.

You don’t want the audience dying of ignorance or worse, DISINFORMATION.

Side effects are NOT the same SEVERITY as the VIRUS that can be LETHAL and can cause LONG TERM EFFECTS.

Good points. Try reading Morris Berman’s “Why America Failed” for a historian’s view of the past 400 years. Notice its title says “FailED”, i.e., already an accomplished fact. It’s over…on to better times, but maybe through some real suffering. Berman is not a “hopey” kind of guy and admits that not many people want to read this book.

Thanks again for a great show. Many corporate companies for years have been purchasing “natural or organic” brands and companies. For instance Nestle just bought Garden of Life (makes vegan supplements, vitamins, protein powders) in 2018. Cornucopia has a terrific chart showing which corporations own which “natural” brands such as Muir Glen, Annie’s, Odwalla. The sad part is most of these corporations were the one’s who upposed GMO legislation in several states. There ARE still independent brands like Eden, Nature’s Path. Hi, I just found your website, thanks for the work you do. Your information is interesting but I believe your statistic of 8500 gallons of water to create one pound of cow (beef) is high. From what I have found it takes about 2500 gallons of water. In addition it takes 950 gallons of water to produce one gallon of pus milk and 890 gallons to produce 1 pound of cheese. I agree these amounts are a huge waste of resources, and lives, for humans to eat animals. namaste’, rachel

We also need to reduce human births. We can accomplish this by advocating for a woman’s right to choose. Religions, governments, and state legislation need to stay out of the reproduction arena, and leave that to the woman and her doctor. Reducing births, can also be a big step towards reducing negative impacts on this planet.

I live in a rural area of Lancaster California and we have a lot of rescued animals including a former race horse. I am surrounded by backyard operations including folks who raise pigs, goats, cows, chickens, etc… for food and also, I suspect, backyard breeders. In the eleven years I have been here, I have noticed a decline in the quail, pheasant, horned lark, and other desert animals because of the surge of non indigenous animals here in the high desert. The population of farm animals has risen and so has the population of ravens and rodents who are after the feed. These also decimate the nests and newborns of the other animals adding to the rapid decline. Of course this is just empirical evidence but if I noticed it, it surely must be obvious to others.

You keep trying to summarize his thoughts, opinions, etc. Rater than having the interview point led. WHY are you talking to him? Did he quit pig farming? So your saying? Obviously, if you go stock free (no livestock, no manures), wwwwwhat do you use then. Obviously, if you’d let him talk, the fertilizers would not be animal based, so the other options, are chemical based, mineral based, or plant based, including cover crops aka green “manure”. Yea! I FINALLY find out the pig farmer has gone livestock free and is a veggie only grower!

All you had to say was “November’s coming soon, and we all know what that means….THANKSGIVING DINNER. So, what can vegans do, on this traditionally un vegan holiday dinner?? 1. Go before or after the traditional feast. 2. grin & bear eating at the traditional table, and just pick out any vegan offerings. 3. don’t go at all. 4. invite guests to your house for a vegan Thanksgiving. 5. invite guests to dine at your favorite vegan restaurant. 6. Any other options? Talking about these would be constructive, and helpful, not ranting on about ham, wwhich is not helpful to a vegan, who already destests it. With new ballot initiative by HSUS for 2018, it is trying to CONTINUE the Prop 2. Yes, it continues cages, I think, but allows for bigger cages I think. So, is that better than nothing? Are should we fight this initiate hard…but then do what, if it’s defeated?

Also, I know the Prop 2 (passed in 2008) has really not worked much at all for the animals (very very sad) cuz they ignored the cage deadline of 2015. Now, sense this true (ie: the egg industry got their way)…then why, if not mistaken, were the egg and meat factory farms SO MUCH OPPOSING Prop 2…if it actually helped the egg and meat industry anyway?? Thank you for your heroic commentary Bob. It is no coincidence that I could never get an answer from Paul Shapiro as to where all the “rescued” Animals from Florida to Puerto Rico were going to be “sheltered”. I am sure that they were going to be happily euthanized when they were being thrown into the Rendering Plant Grinders for Pet Food and Animal Feed. Like PETA, most if not all Animals that are “rescued” by these organizations “happily” get placed in the grinders of a Rendering Plant where they they “gratefully” become food for other Animals. We live in a very sick World and people that believe in these organizations like being duped into believing that the holocaust that is taking place is not really happening at all because fake organizations like HSUS are “taking care” of the Animals. WTF? Really? The HSUS Story is a continuum of the insanity that pervades the very sick uneducated perspective of the US Public. If it weren’t for the Animal Liberation-Vegan Movement and People like ourselves this tragedy would continue without any end in sight. The saddest part is that so many Non Humans are still tragically dying in the most heinous of circumstances and the Public for the most part refuses to open their eyes.
To give you an idea of what our Animal Liberation – Vegans are dealing with, last week in St. Paul, MN, our Co. Evolution Pet Food sponsored the showing of “What The Health” at the beautiful 505 Wabasha St. I-Max Theater in the Scientology Building on Feb. 14th and then “Pet Fooled” on Feb. 18th. I worked for an entire month putting up posters, giving out flyers, e-mails to local AR “Vegan” Groups and very few People showed up for this these amazing FREE events. Is it any wonder that People like ourselves feel like pulling our hair out? I think I’ll have to go out and buy a Donald Trump Hair Piece at Hair-R-Us for $2.99 or something like that.

There is a problem in animal rights movement: no unity in action, there is no global action. And the money from donations, where it is going? To major AR organizations, not for the projects.

Even with Pacelle (officially) gone, his enablers remain in firm control and a culture of secrecy and corruption still looms at the top of HSUS. Also, keep in mind that when Pacelle supposedly “left” the Fund for Animals, he still remained in control via his handpicked executive staff and board members. That dynamic still exists at HSUS with Mike Markarian, Holly Hazard, Heidi Prescott, Josh Balk and all the board members who voted to shut down the sexual harassment investigation and to keep Pacelle in place.

Wayne Pacelle’s misconduct at HSUS goes far beyond sexual harassment allegations. He has, as a matter of routine, lied about his accomplishments and used charitable resources to publicize false claims that elevated his stature and fostered the kind of hero worship that has been so pervasive. This put the women he interacted with at a tremendous disadvantage when considering whether or not to report inappropriate behavior. His fabricated victories enabled his predatory ways by attracting followers and by insulating him from accountability and exposure.

Pacelle generated tremendous publicity for himself when he announced a legislative deal with United Egg Producers, which he claimed would “outlaw battery cages nationwide.” In reality, that deal would have kept laying hens confined inside egg factory cages in perpetuity.

Facing litigation that included charges of bribery, money laundering, and obstruction of justice (a check signed by Pacelle was apparently used to pay a witness who had repeatedly lied under oath), HSUS settled a massive RICO lawsuit by paying the owners of Ringling Brothers Circus millions of dollars of charitable donations that should have been used to protect animals. That’s in addition to all the money in legal fees that were paid out. This use of charitable dollars – to cover the improper conduct of Pacelle and other executive staff – was not unlike the misuse of funds used to essentially buy the silence of women allegedly sexually harassed at HSUS.

In the biggest blunder in animal rights history, Pacelle squandered over $10 million dollars on Proposition 2, the botched 2008 initiative that resulted in millions of laying hens being subjected to more than nine years (and counting) of preventable cage confinement. Nevertheless, Pacelle’s continuously repeated claim that he had “outlawed” battery cages in California has been his biggest claim to fame. Pacelle and the egg industry have now introduced yet another ballot initiative in California. This new initiative would declare battery cages legal in California for additional years and would forever allow the egg industry to provide hens with as little as one square foot of floor space per bird.

None of the above would have been possible without the complicity of the HSUS executive staff and members of the board of directors. Just as Pacelle provided cover for Paul Shapiro, HSUS’s senior staff and board members have covered for Pacelle’s behavior. There needs to be a clean sweep.

This episode is an example (of many) why I’ll never join a vegan group, or engage in vegan activism. Every vegan group hates every other vegan group, and nobody is “pure enough.” I can’t stand to be around people like that.

i would guess that, to add some perspective, isnt what happens is that your internet company has all your info now, so when there is a corporate change, should they just erase all the data? isnt google recording your history now, or do you know? not all search engines are the same. you should use companies from countries that dont have the death penalty, not your california facebook,google, youtube software conglomerates. why do you want to pay for the penetararies which are putting all the minorities in jails? but surveillance is wrong, whether you are a citizen or foreigner, although i think you should have a physical address. it is impossible to kill people online, only to hack and ruin their computers, although violence should be censored, which is why you should be sure to mark those grocery and fast food ads as inappropriate.
